Welcome to my website!

My name is Joseph Thomas, also known as Joe Many Liberals. I am an artist and filmmaker with a BFA degree in Film and Media Arts with a minor in Animation from The University of Tampa in Florida. I work as a freelance and in-house video producer, editor, graphic designer, and production assistant. Independently, I create and release content on my YouTube channels Joe Many Liberals, This Actually Happened IRL, as well as my media production and community-based distribution brand, Feel Like 100.

What is "Joe Many Liberals?"

Because I have a fairly common name, I decided it would be better to publish work with a stage name or username that people would be able to search for, remember, and relate to. Initially I went with "Nine Novembers" in 2019, but changed it over time to "Radio Starkiller" and then "Joe Many Liberals;" with the term coming from a popular copypasta meme originating around 2020. I felt the name fit me and would be recognizable among my contemporaries and online audiences.

About Me

In the summer of 2019, before going to PrattMWP to major in Photography, I created my first original short film "Special Delivery," loosely inspired by the work of online creator ponysmasher AKA David F. Sandberg;
director of "Lights Out," "Anabelle: Creation,"
and "SHAZAM!"

While studying at PrattMWP, I became a freelance video editor for Joseph Klenk editing Roblox letsplay on their now-defunct YouTube channel between August 2019 - March 2020.

In July of 2020, before starting as a transfer student at the University of Tampa, I was hired as a freelance video editor by Anxotic, LLC under the management of Leland Reineke creating content out of their previous Twitch livestreams.

As a film student I created seven original short films, including "Locked Out" (2021),  "Four Years At Kissinger's" (2023), and "Kintsugi" (2020) which have each won film awards.

While enrolled at the University of Tampa, I briefly worked as a YouTube thumbnail designer for The Body Lab, as well as creating music cover art for the artists The Anima Effect and Enter the Animus. While taking on smaller freelance jobs, I  mainly focused on my classwork, networking, and working on other people's film's such as "The Lucky" (2023); filmed on a virtual production stage at Vū Tampa Bay.

In the summer of 2023 I edited the short film "Beachtown" by director Chase Durbin and created an official ad used by Morgan & Morgan with the intention of it being presented in a hologram booth.

In late August 2023, while in production of my final semester's independent project, I became a University of Tampa Fabrications Lab Technician to raise funds for my ongoing projects and use the 3D printers in the lab to create essential props; such as original puppets and character marionettes.
Meanwhile, I also worked for the marketing company Plimsoll Media, editing long and short form videos for clients to be posted on YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook.

From May - June 2024 I worked as a freelance video editor for 777 Media focused on creating vertical social media videos for their clients.

In May 2024, I also began creating a brand with the focus on producing and marketing short films and other content, Feel Like 100, distributing "Beachtown" and "Break My Heart, Please."

From July - October 2024, I had the privilege of being an official screener for New York City's
Big Apple Film Festival, reviewing submissions such as short and feature length films, documentaries, and music videos.

In an age of artificial intelligence and audio-animatronics, Four Years At Kissinger's boldly answers the decades old question "what would it be like if there was a children's entertainment pizzeria like Freddy Fazbear's Pizza that was themed after Richard Nixon's National Security Advisor, Henry Kissinger?"

Winner of the "Best Experimental" Award at The University of Tampa's Fall 2023 Black Box Film Festival.

This is a video art piece I made using projection mapping over a 3D printed puppet and voice model of Henry Kissinger I made for another ongoing project.
